Project Description

In this project Allen Ashley and Zachary Detgoote disassembled, reassembled, dimensioned, and modeled a drafting compass.

Product Description

This drafting compass is a precision instrument which is used to make arks and circles. The left and right leg are mostly held together by the wheel and  axle. When the wheel and axle are twisted they determine the distance between the legs. The top of the legs are held together by the bow, the legs pivot on the socket. The pin holds the socket steady so the arms can pivot on it. The extending left leg can extend outward depending on the situation. It is held in place by the screw and tightener 1.

This is a rendered assembly on Autodesk Inventor of the compass.

Improvement: There should be a bolt at the ends of the wheel and axle so it is less likely to come out.
